24 Inch LED 3D Monitor Released By Viewsonic
Viewsonic, which is one of the world’s largest and most respected makers of computer monitors, has just announced the 3D245wm-LED, a 3d-ready LED monitor with a built in 3D IR emitter. This means that the active shutter classes work with this monitor with no little dongle connected to it and taking up desk space.
The announcement was made at Computex 2011, where it was demoed and additional details were provided. 24 inch might seem a little small by typical monitor standards, but it is pretty large for a 3d monitor. Viewsonic claims it is the first 24 inch to have a built in IR transmitter.
Thankfully, the monitor seems to be a good 2d monitor as well, which is not always he case with 3d displays. The contrast ratio is bragged to be 20 million:1, a 2 ms response time, and 120 hz refresh rate (120hz is an absolute necessity for 3d monitors to ensure the picture for each eye is refreshed quickly enough.) Tests on the color qualities have not yet been released, but typically Viewsonic is very reliable in this area.
Other monitor features include built-in SRS Premium surround sound speakers, and an HDMI 1.4 input. The monitor comes with one pair of active 3d shutter glasses, and more can be purchased from Viewsonic.
Actual release date and pricing details have not yet been released.
