Flicker Free 3D Monitors by LG

LG 3d monitor

LG is bringing it’s patented Cinema Tech to 3D monitors with its D41P and D42P families of monitors, set to release shortly.  The screens will vary in size from 21.5 inches to 25 inches and will all have the standard 16:9 resolution of 1920 x 1080.

The big news on these monitors is that they will use LG’s FPR (Film Pattern Retarder) technology, which eliminates the need for active shutter glasses, and allow the use of the lighter polarized glasses like the ones used in movie theaters.  Some people see flicker with the active shutter glasses, so the ability to use passive glasses will be a major feature for some.

Both varieties will come with a 2d to 3d converter to make standard 2d things on your desktop pop.  This technology is available on other monitors and has met with mixed reviews.

The monitors have already been released in South Korea, but US release dates and pricing has not yet been released.
